The headline is easy to remember. The useful detail is what applies to your car, the part that needs attention and the way the car has been used. This guide also keeps our original service-record checklist in one place.
The main limits to check
These selected limits are from JAECOO UK’s linked warranty policy V3.2, checked 3 October 2026. Read the full policy and the documents applicable to your vehicle; this is not a complete schedule of cover.
| Cover | Published limit |
|---|---|
| Standard private-use vehicle | 7 years / 100,000 miles; whichever is earlier. |
| High-voltage battery | 8 years / 100,000 miles; qualifying repair to at least 70% capacity. |
| 12V battery | 2 years, unlimited mileage. |
| Paint / body perforation | 3 years / 12 years respectively; perforation has specific conditions. |
| Replacement genuine parts | 2 years, subject to component exceptions. |
| Transfer | Remaining cover can pass to the next owner. |
A large battery and the small 12V battery are different items. Ask which component has actually been diagnosed before comparing a quoted repair with a battery-warranty headline.
Why seven years does not cover everything equally
The policy gives shorter limits for items including tyres, glass, some brake components, upholstery, belts and selected rubber parts. Normal wear, maintenance items and damage are not the same as covered manufacturing defects. Diagnosis costs are reimbursed only for a valid claim; courtesy cars and consequential expenses are not automatically included.
Ask for the precise part, the diagnosis and the policy clause being applied. For example, “battery problem” does not say whether the concern involves the high-voltage pack, the 12V battery or something else. A written explanation makes it easier to understand or question a decision.
Commercial use has different terms
For the listed taxi, hire, delivery and other commercial uses, V3.2 specifies 4 years/80,000 miles, changing to 5 years/100,000 miles for vehicles registered from 1 September 2026. Its commercial high-voltage battery limit is separately 5 years/80,000 miles.
If the car is or has been used commercially, give the retailer that information and ask for written confirmation of the applicable cover. Do not assume a private purchase automatically erases its previous use. Your registration date and usage matter.
Does servicing affect a claim?
Follow the maintenance schedule for the exact vehicle and retain proof. The policy requires timely servicing and prompt reporting of defects. Ask the retailer to identify what is due and when, and record both time and mileage rather than waiting for whichever seems more convenient.
This page deliberately does not give one universal service interval for every JAECOO. Use the model’s service documentation and obtain clarification in writing if documents disagree. When comparing service plans, check actual inclusions, price and exclusions separately from warranty cover.

How to prepare a warranty request
Give the retailer the symptom, when it started and any safe observations. Include mileage, powertrain, relevant service records and previous job references. Do not describe a guessed cause as a confirmed diagnosis.
Before authorising work, ask what investigation is proposed, whether a diagnostic charge could apply, who authorises a warranty claim and when you will receive an update. Ask separately about transport or a courtesy vehicle; needing a car does not establish that one has been agreed.
After the visit, keep an itemised job sheet, the findings, work completed and the plan for anything unresolved. If the symptom returns, record that outcome against the original case. Our fault-report checklist makes the evidence easier to assemble.
Buying used, or passing the car to someone else?
Check first registration, mileage, use history, service evidence and outstanding recalls. Ask the retailer to confirm remaining cover against the particular vehicle and explain the transfer process. “Still in warranty” in an advert is a starting point for checking, not the complete answer.
Keep roadside assistance alongside the warranty paperwork but check its eligibility and renewal separately. If a claim remains disputed, use our retailer complaint guide to organise the correspondence. Warranty terms and any separate statutory rights are different subjects; this guide explains the published warranty rather than deciding an individual dispute.
