JAECOO 7 SHS manuals show two settings layouts. The February 2026 handbook groups speed-limit functions under Active Safety; the October 2024 handbook explicitly lists an Icon-only alert mode. Match the layout, not just the registration year.
Supported models and trims
JAECOO 7 SHS/PHEV: Luxury / Black Luxury SHS-P, and earlier PHEV versions with the described equipment; this is not an SHS-H guide
UK manual review; not a hands-on vehicle test. A missing menu may reflect equipment or software; this guide does not promise a feature can be enabled.
Before you begin
Park safely before changing settings. Match the powertrain, equipment and screen layout to the handbook for your own car. A manual describes possible equipment; it is not confirmation that every UK trim has it.
Step-by-step instructions
- Park and power on the car. Open Settings on the centre screen and select Driver assistance for the February 2026 layout.
- Open Active Safety and locate Speed limit assistance. The manual groups speed limit reminder and over speed alarm here.
- Use the labelled warning controls present on your screen. The newer handbook does not spell out a universal Icon-only mute sequence, so do not assume that the older options exist.
- Confirm the choice on screen and check it again after restarting. If the labels do not match, use the earlier-layout instructions below only when your car shows those controls.
Earlier layout: October 2024 handbook
- Open the audio system’s Driver Assistance settings.
- Find Speed limit warning assistance mode. The handbook lists Close, Icon and Sound + Icon. Select Icon if you want a visual-only warning.
- Use Speed limit assist ON/OFF only if you intend to change the whole SLA function. Check Speed limit change reminder and Overspeed warning separately.
A revision is not a software upgrade promise
SLA is marked if equipped in both manuals. The newer text describes a single sound at 5 km/h above the recognised limit; the earlier text describes a flashing/sounding icon above the limit. Do not use either statement as an allowed speeding margin. A manual’s issue date alone cannot identify the software installed on your car.
Troubleshooting
- The wrong limit appears: check the real signs. Clean the windscreen camera area as the handbook directs; report repeated misrecognition with the road, direction, displayed limit and software version.
- A beep remains: read the message. A speed-limit-change alert, a set-speed overspeed alarm and a recognised-limit warning are different functions.
- The setting returns: check it again after the next start. These handbook sections do not establish a permanent-off setting for every software version.
Safety and limitations
- Keep to the actual road speed limit even if the display shows a different limit or the warning is muted.
- Set preferences while parked. A speed-warning setting is not the same as cruise control or an active speed limiter.
- The camera and navigation information can be affected by obscured signs, weather, lighting and map information. Do not test the alarm by deliberately exceeding a limit.
