On the petrol JAECOO 7, the July 2025 manual lists separate Speed limit assist and Overspeed alarm controls. It does not list the E5’s visual-only SLA mode, so use the petrol car’s own options.

JAECOO 7 petrol: Deluxe / Luxury, only where the described equipment is fitted

UK manual review; not a hands-on vehicle test. A missing menu may reflect equipment or software; this guide does not promise a feature can be enabled.

Before you begin

Park safely before changing settings. Match the powertrain, equipment and screen layout to the handbook for your own car. A manual describes possible equipment; it is not confirmation that every UK trim has it.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Park, turn vehicle power to ON and open the centre screen’s vehicle settings. Select Driver assistance.
  2. For the warning linked to recognised speed-limit signs, locate Speed limit assist and set its ON/OFF control as required.
  3. For a warning at your selected speed, locate Overspeed alarm. The manual documents ON/OFF and a speed-limit value for this separate control.
  4. Check the changed setting on the display. Do not alter Intelligent Speed Control System simply to mute a warning; it is listed separately.
  5. Recheck the setting at the next start. No permanent-off claim is made here.

Which J7 is this?

These instructions use the petrol manual issued July 2025. The SHS/PHEV screen layouts have their own guide. The manual describes audible or visual warnings when the recognised limit is exceeded; it does not give a universal audio-only mute route.

Troubleshooting

  • The wrong limit appears: check the real signs. Clean the windscreen camera area as the handbook directs; report repeated misrecognition with the road, direction, displayed limit and software version.
  • A beep remains: read the message. A speed-limit-change alert, a set-speed overspeed alarm and a recognised-limit warning are different functions.
  • The setting returns: check it again after the next start. These handbook sections do not establish a permanent-off setting for every software version.

Safety and limitations

  • Keep to the actual road speed limit even if the display shows a different limit or the warning is muted.
  • Set preferences while parked. A speed-warning setting is not the same as cruise control or an active speed limiter.
  • The camera and navigation information can be affected by obscured signs, weather, lighting and map information. Do not test the alarm by deliberately exceeding a limit.
