The E5 manual separates the speed-limit warning from the sound that announces a change of limit. You can select a visual-only SLA alert without treating every speed-related setting as the same switch.

JAECOO E5 electric: Pure / Luxury, only where the described equipment is fitted
UK manual review; not a hands-on vehicle test. A missing menu may reflect equipment or software; this guide does not promise a feature can be enabled.
Before you begin
Park safely before changing settings. Match the powertrain, equipment and screen layout to the handbook for your own car. A manual describes possible equipment; it is not confirmation that every UK trim has it.
Step-by-step instructions
- Park and power on the vehicle. Open Vehicle setting on the centre screen, then Driver assistance.
- Find Speed limit assist alarm mode. Choose Icon for a visual alert, or Icon + Sound for both. The manual prints “Lcon”; this guide uses the intended word “Icon”.
- To switch SLA itself off, use the separate Speed limit assist ON/OFF setting. Choose this only if you intend to disable that assistance, rather than just its sound.
- If the sound occurs when a limit changes, check Speed limit change alert separately. If it is a general overspeed alert, check Overspeed alarm.
- Confirm your choice on screen before driving. Check again after restarting; the cited section does not promise permanent retention.
The choices at a glance
| Control | Purpose |
|---|---|
| SLA alarm mode: Icon | Keeps the visual warning without selecting Icon + Sound. |
| Speed limit change alert | Separate warning when the recognised limit changes. |
| Overspeed alarm | Separate speed-related alarm setting. |
| Intelligent speed control | A different function; do not use it as the warning mute. |
Troubleshooting
- The wrong limit appears: check the real signs. Clean the windscreen camera area as the handbook directs; report repeated misrecognition with the road, direction, displayed limit and software version.
- A beep remains: read the message. A speed-limit-change alert, a set-speed overspeed alarm and a recognised-limit warning are different functions.
- The setting returns: check it again after the next start. These handbook sections do not establish a permanent-off setting for every software version.
Safety and limitations
- Keep to the actual road speed limit even if the display shows a different limit or the warning is muted.
- Set preferences while parked. A speed-warning setting is not the same as cruise control or an active speed limiter.
- The camera and navigation information can be affected by obscured signs, weather, lighting and map information. Do not test the alarm by deliberately exceeding a limit.
