The current supplied manuals use the same basic pattern: hold Unlock to lower the door windows, and press Lock to raise them when the required conditions are met. The earlier October 2024 PHEV manual confirms lowering but does not spell out this remote-closing sequence. Remote closing can start from an ordinary lock press, so always watch the windows.

UK manual review; not a hands-on vehicle test. A missing menu may reflect equipment or software; this guide does not promise a feature can be enabled.
Before you begin
Park safely before changing settings. Match the powertrain, equipment and screen layout to the handbook for your own car. A manual describes possible equipment; it is not confirmation that every UK trim has it.
Step-by-step instructions
- Stand where you can see all four door windows clearly. Make sure everyone and everything is clear of the glass.
- Switch vehicle power off and close all four doors. For J5 petrol and J7 petrol, also close the bonnet and tailgate before remote closing.
- To lower the windows, press and hold Unlock on the smart key. Release Unlock to stop; opening a door also stops the lowering operation.
- For the current manuals listed below, to raise the windows, press Lock on the smart key. Do not apply this as a verified instruction for the October 2024 PHEV edition. Where fitted and enabled, the car locks/arms and the four windows rise automatically. The manuals describe a press, not a long hold, for closing.
- If you need to interrupt closing, unlock or lock the doors as described by the window section. Watch the result and confirm all glass has stopped.
- Before leaving, inspect every window. Horn/indicator warnings during closing can mean a window has not closed correctly.
Model differences
| Model | Qualification |
|---|---|
| J5 petrol | Both remote lowering and raising are marked if equipped. Bonnet, doors and tailgate must be closed for raising. |
| E5 | Remote lowering/raising documented. Do not infer a feature’s presence solely from trim name. |
| J7 petrol | Bonnet, doors and tailgate must be closed for raising. |
| J7 SHS/PHEV | Four closed doors are specified in the February 2026 instructions. October 2024 verifies hold-Unlock lowering only; a remote-closing button sequence is not explicitly documented there. Confirm closing against the handbook and software supplied with that earlier vehicle. |
| J8 SHS-P | Remote raising is explicitly if equipped. Remote lowering is documented separately. |
If a window reverses
Remove the obstruction and inspect the opening. Do not repeatedly force closing: the manuals warn that repeated obstruction can cancel jam protection. If one-touch operation has been lost, use the exact model’s relearning procedure or ask the retailer; the power-state and timing instructions differ, so there is no shared reset sequence here.
Troubleshooting
- No movement: check equipment, power-off state, closed doors and key operation. On petrol J5/J7, check the bonnet and tailgate too.
- One window stays open: check for an obstruction and warning signals. Close it using the normal control only when the opening is clear.
- Horn or indicators activate: inspect the windows; do not assume the warning confirms successful closure.
- One-touch no longer works: consult the matching Window Jam Protection section. Persistent trouble requires inspection.
Safety and limitations
- Never operate remotely out of sight. Keep children and animals away from the openings.
- Jam protection may not detect thin or soft objects. Never test it with fingers or another body part.
- These instructions are for door windows, not a universal sunroof-closing sequence.
