These three manuals describe a similar six-button panoramic-camera layout. The system is called AVM: it combines four cameras into surrounding views. “540°” should not be read as a promise that nothing can hide underneath the car.

UK manual review; not a hands-on vehicle test. A missing menu may reflect equipment or software; this guide does not promise a feature can be enabled.
Before you begin
Park safely before changing settings. Match the powertrain, equipment and screen layout to the handbook for your own car. A manual describes possible equipment; it is not confirmation that every UK trim has it.
Step-by-step instructions
- Park in an open area, extend both mirrors and close the tailgate. Power on the car. AVM is marked if equipped for the J5 and E5.
- Tap the panoramic/around-view monitor (AVM) switch on the centre screen. Selecting R also opens it. The manuals allow operation up to 30 km/h; this is an operating limit, not a recommended parking speed.
- Select 2D for a single-side and stitched view, or 3D for an angled vehicle view. In 3D, choose a view around the vehicle or slide to change the angle.
- Use the wide-angle button for a broader front/rear view, or the wheel-side button for wheel-side views. Check actual clearance directly as well.
- Open the camera settings button to select the options described below.
- To close a manually opened view, tap the AVM switch again, or use Close when not in R. After shifting out of R, these manuals describe a 15-second exit delay.
Settings worth knowing
| Setting | Manual-supported purpose |
|---|---|
| AVM Activation From Turn Light | Opens an appropriate view when indicating. |
| Steering activation | E5 names AVM Activation From Steering Angle; petrol J7 lists “Corner acticated panorama”. J5 describes large-angle activation in its usage text without a matching named setting in its list. |
| Vehicle Trajectory | Shows guidance lines; these do not replace checking your path. |
| Auto Zoom View / PDC display | Closer view based on obstacle distance / parking-radar display. |
| Transparent vehicle body | Adjusts the displayed vehicle model’s transparency. This alone does not verify every “540°” marketing capability. |
Model coverage
J5 petrol uses the January 2026 manual, E5 the March 2026 manual and petrol J7 the July 2025 manual. AVM and its options depend on fitted equipment. Do not follow this screen layout on the newer J7 SHS or J8; they have separate guides.
Troubleshooting
- No picture: first check that your car has AVM and meets the power/speed conditions. A reversing camera alone is not proof of a four-camera system.
- Distorted or poorly joined picture: unfold the mirrors, close the tailgate and check the camera surfaces for dirt. Do not move the cameras to realign the image yourself.
- Black panel or fault message: stop relying on that view and arrange retailer inspection. A black area is not evidence that the space is clear.
- It opens when indicating: review the turn-signal or steering-linkage option described below. This can be a configured behaviour rather than a fault.
Safety and limitations
- Look around the vehicle and use direct observation and mirrors. Check for children, animals and low obstacles; the display has blind spots and delay.
- The image is not a precise measurement of clearance. A transparent vehicle graphic is not a guarantee of a live, unobstructed view under the car.
- Do not adjust or dismantle cameras. Keep lenses clean without scratching them, and follow the handbook’s washing guidance.
- Practise in an open, safe area. The system assists parking; it does not make the manoeuvre for you.
