How to use the JAECOO 8 540-degree camera

Use the JAECOO 8 540-degree camera: shortcut-menu access, 3D, wheel-side views and transparent-body settings, with UK manual references.

The J8’s panoramic view combines four exterior cameras. Its UK model page describes a 540-degree system, while the owner manual provides the practical controls: shortcut-menu entry, 3D, wide-angle and wheel-side views.

Supported models and trims

UK manual review; not a hands-on vehicle test. A missing menu may reflect equipment or software; this guide does not promise a feature can be enabled.

Before you begin

Park safely before changing settings. Match the powertrain, equipment and screen layout to the handbook for your own car. A manual describes possible equipment; it is not confirmation that every UK trim has it.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Park in an open space, extend the mirrors, close the tailgate and put the J8 in READY.
  2. While stationary, slide down the audio screen to open the shortcut menu and select AVM. Selecting R at low speed also opens it.
  3. Choose the single-side plus bird’s-eye view or select 3D plus bird’s-eye view. In 3D, tap the view-angle control around the car to change the viewpoint.
  4. Tap the wide-angle control for the front view; tap it again for the rear view. The wheel-side control similarly switches between front and rear wheel-side views.
  5. Open AVM settings to adjust Steering Linkage, Lane Guideline Display, Parking Radar Display or Transparent Body, as fitted.
  6. Use the close control when not in R. The manual says leaving R, switching power off or exceeding 30 km/h exits the relevant view.

Automatic camera activation

The usage section describes enabling camera activation for a large steering turn and for indicators. The settings list groups this behaviour as Steering Linkage. Follow the labels on your own screen; no unverified submenu is assumed.

Transparent does not mean hazard-free

Transparent Body changes the displayed vehicle model. Keep checking the real surroundings: stitching, blind spots, delayed images and distorted distances remain limitations even with a “540°” camera.

Troubleshooting

  • No picture: first check that your car has AVM and meets the power/speed conditions. A reversing camera alone is not proof of a four-camera system.
  • Distorted or poorly joined picture: unfold the mirrors, close the tailgate and check the camera surfaces for dirt. Do not move the cameras to realign the image yourself.
  • Black panel or fault message: stop relying on that view and arrange retailer inspection. A black area is not evidence that the space is clear.
  • It opens when indicating: review the turn-signal or steering-linkage option described below. This can be a configured behaviour rather than a fault.

Safety and limitations

  • Look around the vehicle and use direct observation and mirrors. Check for children, animals and low obstacles; the display has blind spots and delay.
  • The image is not a precise measurement of clearance. A transparent vehicle graphic is not a guarantee of a live, unobstructed view under the car.
  • Do not adjust or dismantle cameras. Keep lenses clean without scratching them, and follow the handbook’s washing guidance.
  • Practise in an open, safe area. The system assists parking; it does not make the manoeuvre for you.
