Battery size does not tell you exactly what a charging session costs. Use the energy measured by your charger or the session receipt, then apply the price you actually paid.
Start with the receipt
Multiply the billed kWh by the electricity price per kWh. Add any session, parking or idle charges that apply. If a session crosses tariff windows, calculate the energy in each window separately.
Energy drawn from the supply can exceed the amount stored in the battery because charging involves losses. Using billed energy avoids hiding that difference.
Try your own figures
Starting values are an illustration, not a current tariff or JAECOO efficiency claim. Enter non-negative numbers. This estimates one session, not your whole electricity bill.
Make the comparison useful
Compare the complete home tariff, including household use and standing charges, rather than only the cheapest overnight rate. Public charging prices and fees vary, so check the displayed terms before starting.
Our club suggestion: record the date, kWh, total paid and journey miles in a simple log. For a plug-in hybrid, include petrol purchases when comparing overall running costs.
