If your car and home charger both have schedules, write down what each is set to do. This guide is a planning checklist, not a model-specific button sequence.
Check the instructions first
Find the charging section in the correct vehicle handbook and the instructions for your particular charger. Establish whether each timer sets a start time, a finish time or a departure time. Check any smart-tariff settings too.
Make one change at a time
- Record the existing schedules and take screenshots while safely parked.
- Confirm the current tariff window and which device is intended to manage charging.
- Where both manuals permit it, use one schedule controller for a test session so you can understand the result.
- Follow the handbook’s connection procedure and check that charging is ready before leaving the car.
- After the session, compare the charger history, billed energy and intended charging window.
If the result is unexpected
Keep a note of the times, vehicle software, charger model and any displayed message. Share that evidence with the charger provider or retailer. Avoid factory resets or unofficial software changes as a first experiment.
We will add illustrated JAECOO menu walkthroughs after checking the exact UK model and software edition. Energy Saving Trust’s advice explains the wider benefit of smart and off-peak charging.
