Octopus Electric Vehicles’ 8 October release places the JAECOO E5 second in its Q3 2026 order ranking. This is one leasing company’s customer demand, not a nationwide registration result.

A strong order ranking makes the E5 worth investigating. A test drive, comparable written quotes and a workable charging plan should decide whether it suits you.

The release’s notes specify orders supplied for the quarter as the basis. It does not provide model-by-model totals, so the size of the gap between first and second cannot be calculated from it.
What the ranking can and cannot tell a buyer
Orders and registrations occur at different stages: an order can precede delivery and registration. A provider’s offers, available vehicles and customer mix may influence its ranking. Second place here therefore does not establish second place in UK sales, a national market share or a reliability verdict.
The practical value is as a prompt to investigate the E5 alongside alternatives. Check the E5 model information, then arrange a test drive with the passengers and luggage you normally carry. Cabin comfort, access and visibility are personal checks that an order chart cannot perform for you.
Compare the whole lease, not just the advertised monthly figure
Request a written quote showing the initial payment, number of monthly payments, contract term, annual mileage and excess-mileage charge. Ask what insurance, maintenance, tyres and breakdown cover are included and what remains your responsibility. Compare equivalent terms across providers.
For salary sacrifice, ask your employer for the effect on take-home pay and its policies on leaving employment, parental leave and early termination. Do not assume that a headline saving applies to your circumstances. For personal leasing, check the total contractual payments and end-of-contract condition rules.

Check your charging plan before ordering
List where you would charge on a normal working week and on longer journeys. Compare your own home and public charging prices, installation costs if relevant, and access to convenient chargers. Charging access can be more important to daily suitability than a popularity ranking.
