JAECOO E5 electric separates lane-departure warnings from steering intervention. Identify which function you want to change before adjusting it; switching off LDW alone is not a reliable way to stop every steering intervention.

Supported models and trims

JAECOO E5 electric: Pure / Luxury, only where the described equipment is fitted

UK manual review; not a hands-on vehicle test. A missing menu may reflect equipment or software; this guide does not promise a feature can be enabled.

Before you begin

Park safely before changing settings. Match the powertrain, equipment and screen layout to the handbook for your own car. A manual describes possible equipment; it is not confirmation that every UK trim has it.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Park, power on the E5 and open Vehicle setting on the centre screen, then Driver assistance.
  2. Use Lane departure warning ON/OFF for the warning. To retain the warning with a different presentation, choose Sound, vibration or sound+vibration; sensitivity is Late or Early.
  3. Use the separate Lane departure prevention ON/OFF control for LDP steering intervention.
  4. Check Emergency lane keeping (ELK) separately. Changing LDW does not establish that ELK is disabled.
  5. Confirm the state shown on screen, then recheck after the next start.

Three functions with different jobs

FunctionWhat it does
LDW: Lane Departure WarningWarns about a lane departure.
LDP: Lane Departure PreventionCan apply corrective steering as the car leaves its lane.
ELK: Emergency Lane KeepingCan intervene in a potential road-edge or adjacent-traffic conflict; capability varies by model.

Model and software notes

The March 2026 handbook lists LDW, LDP and ELK controls separately. It does not establish one master switch that permanently disables every lane-related feature.

Troubleshooting

  • The steering still intervenes: distinguish LDW from LDP, ELK and active cruise assistance. Turning off a warning does not prove the other systems are off.
  • The display is grey: the system may be enabled but limited or waiting for suitable conditions. Grey does not by itself mean a fault.
  • A yellow fault indicator stays on: arrange inspection; do not try to fix it by repeatedly toggling the system.
  • False warnings: check the camera’s view for dirt or ice and note the road markings. Persistent problems need retailer investigation.

Safety and limitations

  • Keep both hands available to steer and remain responsible for the vehicle. Lane assistance is not autonomous driving.
  • Do not deliberately cross a lane marking to test the setting. Make changes while parked.
  • Poor markings, roadworks, sharp bends, bad weather and an obscured windscreen camera can reduce performance. Follow the handbook’s restrictions on using LDP.
